Apologies to those of you who did manage to get to the meeting at Starbucks. I waited for over an hour for a bus but it never arrived so at 11.40am I came home. next meeting is Friday January 29th from 10.30 in Starbucks Borehamwood. Just look for the knitters

Don't forget we still meet on the second and fourth Monday every month. We ahve a few new members and at the moment we are a small but friendly bunch. My earth stripe wrap hasn't been touched but I have finished Preppy for Jemma. I have also started a cross stitch sampler for a friends wedding. Linda is doing a beautiful cross stitch of a partridge on black Aida. Poppy is knitting her christmas yarn which is a beautiful blue. Margeret is knitting baby bits .

In March we met on the 9th where most of us were sewing up although TJ was knitting baby bits. We next meet on the 23rd MArch from 6.30pm at St Pauls and on the 27th in Caffe Nero.

A new year new resolutions. A lot of us have finished our projects from last year. Linda has finished her fabulous cabled slipover. I have finished my blanket. Storm from Kim Hargreaves Heartfelt, Some fingerless Noro gloves , my nieces hat and gloves but am still on the Earth Stripe Wrap. Pops is still on her cabled sweater and Brenda is in her striped sweater for one of her nephews.

Meetings second and fourth Monday each month and last Friday each month.
MOndays at St Pauls just off Cranes Way Borehamwood from 6.30pm
Fridays Cafe Neros Borehamwood from 10.30am

November Calling

Last month was an interesting month we had a visit from the coordinator from the Shoebox charity. We are all going to be knitting bits for them for next year.
Linda has finished her Soy cardigan and it looked great. Liz is knitting a variety of bits and I'm still on my Kidsilk earth stripe wrap. We have welcomed a few new members to each of the meetings. It's always good to meet new knitters and crafters.
This month we are meeting evening 10th & 24th and the Friday club is on the 28th

This month has been a quiet but busy one with lots of projects started, a few finished and lots being inspired. The meetings for October are : evenings, 13th & 27th October.Daytime one on 31st . Don't forget the knitting and stitching show at Alexander Palace from 11th October to 14th. Lots of new yarns and accessories to look at.

Well tonight there was just three of us but we had a good chat and a visitor from Peter our local newspapers photographer. He took some photos of us and we had a small article in the Freetime section we have had a few calls so hopefully we'll see some new and old faces. I am working on my earthstripe wrap LJ was knitting her squares and CF was still busy crocheting.

Long June Days

Well it's been a nice light cool evening tonight. Another small meeting but we welcomed a new member who has been experimenting with her knitting with some nice effects and had her first attempt at crochet with surprisingly good results. I say surprisingly as I can still only just about crochet. L was using all her odds and ends and making more wristwarmers for presents. S had done her tension square & was spot on so she was able to start her hat . She did well and did at least three pattern repeats before she left. I am knitting Mousse from one of the new Rowan Classic books. In the book it is knitted in silk cotton I am knitting it in Rowan Bamboo tape and it is one of the easiest patterns I have ever knitted it may be the first adult pattern I'll knit more than once.Also took a photo of the mystery blanket being knitted

Well we had a young member of our group last meeting. H came with her mum L who has been knitting lots of clothes for her teddies. S was there knitting another hat and trying to work out her tension. L was knitting with Sirdar Soya yarn. She's knitting a summer cardi that is knitted in one piece. It looks like nice yarn. J was knitting in Bamboo and I was knitting a wrap in Bamboo tape. We also had a table at the Churchs garden party and managed to start 3 children off on their knitting. It was a great day a real feeling of community. Next meeting June 23rd St Pauls

Here Came the Sun

Well the sun was out for our last meeting and we had the door open and the blinds up. We welcomed back TJ after a long break who had LOADS of goodies to show us. Most slightly out of season. She brought us all the feltwork she'd been doing we've only a pic of her favourite one but she has done her lucky son a fabulous christmas stocking and a SNOW banner as well. She is not the only talented one in the family as her husband not only bakes and decorates the most amazing unique cakes he paints as well. He painted in pastels a portrait of a dog which went on to win the Hobbycraft Crafter of the year in his catergory. His prize £250 of Hobbycraft voucher unfortunately HC don't sell his pastels so poor TJ just had to go to HC and stock up on some craft essentials for herself and in the process and discovered rugmaking. She was working a pretty Tinkerbell rug at this meeting. PB was working on another throw . This time it is one she is designing herself from a book she was given for her recent birthday. She is no longer a teenager and is very happy about it. She is knitting it an a camel coloured yarn. LJ was working out a pattern from the Felted Collection by Rowan and working on her Rowan Membership free gift in all seasons cotton. LP was working on another jacket (this woman can knit) in Sirdar Peru in a blue/grey multi colour.. She is on the final sleeve so I expect we shall see her at the next meeting. J was working on a Sirdar Baby Bamboo bolero and managed to finish the back and I was knitting the Remote Control tidy from Simply Knitting issue 41. I am using Cashsoft Chunky.

Our next meeting is our first daytime meeting in Caffe Nero Borehamwood. This is happenning on 30th May @ 10.30am. Our next evening meeting is June 9th 6.30pm

Well another 2 quiet weeks. I couldn't stay last week as I couldn't talk. On the knitting front I have finished my Rowan Country Woodland cardigan/Jacket have finished this months blanket squares , my cable and bead workshop project and am on the sleeves of my cable edged bolero

Easter is Coming

It was a very very windy night and we had our usual mix of knitters. Rita returned and had almost finished knitting her beanie hat. I was on a roll finishing various bits. I managed to finish my blanket square for the month, finish the back of my Cable Edged Bolero from Studio 8 and started the final front of Woodland from Country Escape. Liz is knitting her friend a gorgeous fine cashmere scarf for a friend and Poppy was knitting herself a cotton sweater from Simply Knitting in a pinky lilac. Our star knitter Linda was knitting on her Denise needles a sweater from Interweaves knits. Hopefully Janine will be feeeling better soon and able to join us. New knitter Suri has finished her baby set she was knitting for a family friends baby and is about to start a lace patterned hat for herself. She is learning how to knit for the recreational part of her Duke of Edinburgh award. Our next meeting is 14th April. Happy Easter

February Finished

Numbers still low must be the weather or the dark nights. We had a new member this week Rita who is knitting a ribbed beanie hat for her first ever project it's going well. I was knitting my butterfly square from Debbie Abrahams mystery blanket and sewing the ends in. Linda was knitting a sleeve in a gorgeous teal Aran. Liz and Hannah were undoing a sweater in felted tweed and Tracey was back sewing another Bucilla kit and showing off her pie snowman she had sewn. Date for the diary on June 14th St Pauls will be having a craft fayre and garden party do come and join in the fun.

Numbers were low this week but we were all very productive. I was sewing up my beaded cardigan - Chicago from Rowan 37. I still have one sleeve to knit but it should be finshed by the next meeting. S has knitted her first garment a garter stitch baby hat. PB was wearing a sweater she had knitted herself and was knitting a leaf design cushion. LJ cast on for a scarf in ROwan Country and LP was using her denise needles for a gorgeous burnt red sweater. Sub will be increasing in April to £3 per week refreshments still included. Next meeting there will be some freebies on the 19th Feb.

Well it's a new year and numbers are low but we are all still knitting well. TJ is back on her felt beading, LP is on an interweave cardigan in Pure Wool Aran it is an gorgeous dark duck egg blue. I have just finished Jude in RC Alpaca soft, Due to a typo the next meeting is on 11th Feb 6.30. We now have a forum on knitting website Ravelry. If you haven't looked yet sign up for it. There is a waiting list but it's only a couple of weeks and it has so much on ther to look at and use.

Last Post for 2007

An early new years resolution is to update this blog abit more regularly. Unfortunately a lot happened since the last post meaning I was unable to update it but hopefully now I am back and should be able to update at least once a month.

On Monday 10th we have our last meeting of the year which also happens to be our Christmas Party. Everyone is welcome starts at 6.30. We will be having a secret santa so everyone needs to bring a small present either £5 max or something one has made.

June Still Quiet

We had our second June meeting with lots of members away sunning themselves. Robbi is still knitting her cushion, Poppy unbelievably had nothing to knit so was practising new stitches in squares.Liz brought in her checkered felted cushion which looked amazing. The colours chosen really stood out. She is now making a wheat bag holder for a friend - again to be felted. Pat was making lots of mini christmas puddings, Linda is still knittng aran and was wearing her Click coat/cardigan. I have finished a WIP and was sewing my ascot cardi up. Good news is that I have finally found the camera lead so have updated the promised photos . We have Lauras "chocolates", Traceys necklaces with plumbing bits and the felted beaded bag

June Quietly arrived

This months meeting was the first for over month and a for a few members over 6 weeks. We were few on numbers this week as a lot of members are off enjoying themselves on holiday. LP was there as was J and PB. PB has finshed her sweater and is now knitting a beanie in Saracen Colours for her dad. J is still knitting her bits for her portfolio. LM was crocheting the most intricate beautiful tiny flowers to embellish a garment she's made. TJ was knitting christmas decorations. She had a box of them to show the ones she's already made for show and tell. RB is still on her cushion which is lovely and fluffy. I still haven't finished any knitted garments and got told off for not bringing any bits into show. Having been reprimanded will have to fish out all my old bits and bring them in. We had a new member this week V who was cross stitching a very large picture of a lady and a horse on a navy background.
Next meeting I hope to have finished my current .WIP fingers and needles crossed!!!!
